Purpose: The purpose of the TCEA 21st Century Educator certification program is to provide extensive professional development for district administrators, campus principals, assistant principals, teachers, and librarians. The emphasis will be on developing strategic leadership skills to ensure that effective and engaging 21st century educational technology learning experiences for students are being provided and on changing classroom instruction to match the needs of today’s students. Participants who successfully complete the certification requirements will be fully prepared to lead a campus in any Texas school system toward innovative technology use and educational achievement.

This hands-on workshop examines the role the iPad and iPod touch should take in the classroom for special needs learners. Apps for modification and differentiation will be covered, along with accessibility features of the devices. (Note: This is an intermediate level course. Implementing and Developing Project-Based Learning in the Classroom
Designed for teachers and instructional coaches, attendees will learn first-hand about project based learning by experiencing a project from beginning to end. Attendees will then use that experience as a guide as they develop their own project(s). Attendees will benefit from additional tools and supports that will be available. This session will conclude with each attendee sharing their project-based learning activity. This is a two day workshop.

iTeach, iLearn: iPad In the Classroom
This hands-on workshop takes you beyond "cool apps" for the iPad to how to best use the mobile device in the classroom for authentic learning. Participants may bring their own iPads or register to use one of TCEA's and then develop an entire integrated lesson on a particular TEK or topic. The lesson will include a variety of resources, all of which can be accessed on the iPad, that focus on the differentiation of learning, both process and product, for each student. (Note: This is an intermediate level course. Participants should already be familiar with the basics of iPad use.)

Using Jim Collins' "Good to Great" principles, participants will learn what distinguishes a Level 5 leader, will create a BHAG for their campus/district, define their Hedgehog Concept and core values, and create a Mars Group for effective change.

Leading and Supporting School Districts through Project-Based Learning
Designed for administrators and instructional coaches, attendees will learn first-hand about project based learning and strategies for sustaining effective PBL implementations. Through peer review and reflection, attendees will have the opportunity to develop a plan (including a timeline) for deploying PBL across a campus/district, design rubrics for observations, and structure a revision process for continued innovation.
