Purpose:The purpose of the TCEA Robotics Facilitator certification program is to ensure that classroom teachers are prepared to lead their students into the 21st century and beyond using robotics. The emphasis will be on integrating STEM into the classroom and promoting higher order thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Both an elementary (K-4) and a secondary (5-12) strand are offered. Includes a one year membership to Robotics Special Interest Group (ROBO-SIG).

Introduction to the WeDo Robotics System (Grades K-4) The WeDo Robotics System takes your elementary classroom to a new level. This workshop is for the elementary teacher that has no prior experience using robotics or building with LEGO elements. Attendees will take with them instructional strategies and curriculum ideas to implement robotics into their classroom, school, or district.

Introduction to the NXT Robotics System (Grades 5-12) Participants will gain a solid foundation of building and programming in this workshop. The SUPER 6 Components of Robotics: NXT brick, LME software, Engineering Journal, building bots, programming and problem solving are covered step-by-step. Throughout this course, connections to science and math curriculum will be addressed. Attendees will be given resources and materials on TCEA robotics competitions. This will be a fast-paced, hands-on, engaging workshop!
